Q: Is a Volkswagen New Beetle a good first car for a new driver?
I have my permit and hopefully I’ll get a car soon after I have my license next year. Would a VW New Beetle coupe be a good choice for its overall performance and safety? The starting price for a new 2010 model is around $19,000 so would that be economically reasonable? Any other info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
A: VW New beetle, Mini, Fiat 500 are all good if you like retro style and huge MPGs. they are a little pricey for their size though

A: THE NEW BEETLE WAS THE FIRST CAR SOLD IN AMERICA BUILT ON THE THEN NEW GOLF PLATFORM.
VW WOULDN’T BUILD A SPECIAL PLATFORM FOR ONE CAR.

A: The dealer said they did on my brother’s 2004 beetle.
I am not sure I believe that, since that would be a ridiculous design flaw in my opinion.
But Autozone sells an adapter you plug into the ODB II (on board diagnostic) socket on the VW, and a cigarette lighter on any other car, to hold the information, while battery is changed.
I believe is it only diagnostic codes that would be lost, and you don’t care about them anyway.
But I don’t know for sure.
The radio is more of a concern to me, if it has theft protection.

A: i own a repair shop,and all you need is the bulb part of it,it just turns out from the back of it,and put the new one in it,be care full and don’t touch the actual bulb part of it,your not supposed to touch them with your fingers hold it with a cloth rag or something but the old one just pulls out and the new on goes right in,and that’s all there is to it,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

I just want any reviews, the year of the car will be 1998-2002 probably used obviously. What are major problems with it, and anything else someone buying this car should know. Is it a good first car?
A: The only real problem my brother has had with his is that tall people in the back seat don’t have enough head room to the side, if you hit bumps while turning.
Otherwise it has been fine.
A little tight to work on, and the battery is hard to change.

Please provide a how-to and what you think it would cost to fix it on your own. Dealer told me it would be over $800 to fix, and I think that is pretty insane. I’m looking to see if I can get it done on my own.

A: Need more details; what parts are you talking abt? Radiator? Water pump? Hoses? Expansion tank?
Best thing to do if you are going to do it yourself is get a good Repair Manual .
Then you have to factor in tools too. Do you have a good set? Is the work going to involve crawling under the car?
It may seem that the dealer is high but in the end ‘peace of mind’ , convenience, and the dealer guarantee on parts and labor is a winner to me.
We have tried other shops . But for us, experience has shown that the dealer is best.
Dont wait too long though; if the car is overheating while you still drive it, it could cost you $1000’s if you damage the engine.

I’ve been doing extra hours at work, and have saved about 2,000 dollars so far. Mainly, I’m kind of struck between black, silver, and green. Please tell me which color you think is better and why? Or any other color.
A: We have red, but I would choose white. Because you never see the white beetles, all the other colours are a bit cliche, especially red! I’d choose white its classy!
